The Circular | Edition 2 - Rapanui Clothing

The Circular | Edition 2

A curation of recent stories, moments and happenings from the Rapanui world, featuring adventures, feel-good vibes and some recommendations from the team.

In this edition we recap our recent collaboration with the Save Windermere campaign, our collaboration with artist Millie Sandy, along with a podcast recommendation from the team.

1. We join the campaign trail to end sewage pollution

Earlier this month, we handed the keys to our instagram account to Matt Staniek, who started the Save Windermere. The campaign calls on United Utilities to end their pollution of England's most iconic lake.

As islanders, we know first hand how sewage pollution can affect livelihoods, destroy marine ecosystems, and harm the health of coastal communities. When it comes to making clothes, we've developed technology to end waste. We know better ways of doing things are possible. That's why it's important to us to use our platform to highlight the national scandal that is the sewage pollution crisis.

Head over to our Instagram to learn more about the Save Windermere campaign and we'd love you to share the posts, spread the words, and join us in ending sewage pollution.

2. Rapanui x Millie Sandy

We collaborated with artist and gardener Millie Sandy to create designs inspired by our connection with nature. For the Rapanui x Millie Sandy collaboration, Millie created designs that inspire a close connection with nature, calling on us to listen to the stories it might tell.

We chatted to Millie about her inspiration and the parallels between growing plants and her creative process. You can read the full interview here.

3. Introducing organic cotton corduroy to the range

For Autumn 2024, our product team have introduced organic cotton corduroy to the range. With its soft and durable characteristics, organic cotton corduroy is perfect for layering as the weather cools, offering style that feels and looks great.

"We set out to create a timeless range that's easy to grab on your way out and pairs effortlessly with almost any outfit, ready to wear season after season. Organic cotton corduroy has this amazing softness and texture that we think people will love, especially as the temperatures drop," says Saskia from the product team.

4. A life more wild

If you've read this far, I'll let you in on a secret. As I write this, Rapanui HQ is buzzing with activity. Kit is being packed, maps are being pored over, and ferry tickets are getting booked. The team are heading off to shoot the winter campaign. Somewhere a few hundred miles away from our stomping ground on the Isle of Wight. We're very excited to share all that content with you very soon.

Until then, here's a podcast recommendation from the team to get you inspired to take on your own adventure. This podcast episode takes us to the Lake District, exploring tarns, and vast mountainscapes.

Our adventure will take us to a similar landscape, but a few more beaches. Anyway, I've said too much. Enjoy the podcast.

5. Exploring seagrass with Theo Vickers

Marine Biologist, good friend of Rapanui, and all round legend Theo Vickers took us along for an explore of seagrass meadows around the Isle of Wight. Seagrass is an incredibly important habitat for marine life and helps keep oceans healthy.

Take a look at the video and learn more about this amazing plant that just a few metres offshore.

If you have a story to tell about adventure and the outdoors, and would love a chance to be featured on our instagram account, we'd love to hear from me. You can DM us on instagram.
