The world needs more trees, yet the current rate of deforestation means that we're losing a football pitch sized area of forest every six seconds. As a company we exist because of our belief in positive improvements. That means building them ourselves if we have to. So during our Buy One Get One Tree<\/em> weekends, we plant a tree for every order placed on our store. We built Teemill<\/u><\/a>, to help other brands end waste and make a positive impact with tree-planting. Together, we\u2019ve planted over 19,000 tennis courts worth of trees.<\/p>

\"\"Each individual tree sapling is planted carefully by hand, which means we are able to plant more trees in the areas that need it most.<\/em><\/p>

How does the tree planting happen?<\/strong><\/h3>

To make sure our planting efforts are as effective as possible, we partner with tree-planting projects and organisations like Tree-Nation<\/a>. Most of our projects are international, where we can have the biggest impact.<\/p>

So far our partnerships have mostly contributed to projects that have reforested large areas of Madagascar. These projects have focused on maintaining natural biodiversity and combating deforestation, working in areas where the trees are needed the most.<\/p>

These trees help keep the Madagascan coastline stable, diversifying and restoring the natural balance of nature, and preserving the environment for native species and ecosystems. The project also offers long-term employment for the people that plant them.<\/p>

Our collective donations support a lot more than the sowing of seeds. In Madagascar, \u200bour partners are also involved with wildlife conservation, protecting endangered species like chameleons and sea eagles. A Nature Reserve nurses injured animals back to health and protects them from poaching. Planting and protecting forests gives them safer homes to return to, countering the effects of deforestation. \u2060<\/p>

Our partners work to address reforestation through a mixture of approaches. As well as directly seeding the land with native seed species, they also employ methods like creating \u2018seed bombs\u2019 which contain seeds mixed with clay, compost and soil, ready to plant when the rainy season arrives.<\/p>

After the trees are planted, protecting them is vital. Patrols and guard towers watch for fires and keep the forests from getting cut down illegally or destroyed by natural disasters.<\/p>

During Buy One Get One Tree <\/em>weekends, every order placed between 9am Friday and midnight Sunday is counted up and the funding is sent to our partners.<\/p>

Is tree planting greenwashing?<\/strong><\/p>

Tree planting alone is not a solution to the climate and ecological emergency. \u2018Offsetting\u2019 carbon emissions with tree planting can be misleading and some companies may use this to avoid using clean energy sources in the first place.<\/p>

That\u2019s why we use renewable energy to power our operations. The projects we support focus on restoring natural biodiversity and combating deforestation in places which need it the most.<\/p>

How do I claim my tree during Buy One Get One Tree<\/em> weekends?<\/strong><\/p>

For every order placed during these weekends, we automatically add the tree. After the weekend, we count the orders and send the amount to our tree planting partners.<\/p>
